Mission

Facilitate Conversation Groups and Semi-Private Sessions whose aim is achieving fluency, while providing a supportive environment and social network. Value community, education and recreation, by nurturing curiosity, fostering camaraderie and providing a sense of self-improvement.

Vision

Pioneer a grassroot approach to mobilizing people and resources in local communities, using language learning and cultural exchange as a means of promoting diversity and integration. Be an organizing force behind the empowerment of individuals and their communities.

Brief History

Founded in September of 2022, FLSC was inspired by an overwhelming response on a Facebook community group. Founder Gat Leon posted asking if anyone was interested in meeting at a local cafe to practice speaking French. Within 24 hours, there was a massive reaction and countless comments of interest and support.

Included in the sea of responses were Francophones willing to attend, enthusiastically offering their assistance. Putting two and two together, FLSC has become a recruiting ground for local participants and facilitators alike ever since.

Spreading from one borough to the next, our formula has been to enter neighbourhoods and mobilize residents and resources in a given community. We dynamically developed our program to better connect neighbors through language learning with casual conversation in an informal setting.

Sessions have become spaces as unique as the communities and individuals that nurtured their growth. FLSC is dedicated to making a difference through community, education and recreation. Our philosophy is that learning should sometimes take a backseat to laughter and camaraderie
